Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has embarked on his journey to Switzerland to attend the inaugural Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, held during the High-level Segment of the 112th Session of the International Labour Conference. The departure ceremony took place at the VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport, where Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' bade farewell to the President.
A special salute was presented to President Paudel by a squad of the Nepali Army in honor of his departure. The farewell ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the National Assembly Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister, various Ministers, chiefs of constitutional and security bodies, among others.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Paudel is scheduled to address the inaugural Forum on June 13. Additionally, he will engage in bilateral talks with his Swiss counterpart, Viola Amherd, on June 12. Following his engagements in Switzerland, President Paudel will travel to Berlin on June 15 for an official visit to Germany at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The official talks between President Paudel and his German counterpart are scheduled for June 17.
President Paudel is accompanied by his spouse, Sabita Paudel, along with a delegation comprising his Foreign Affairs Expert Dr. Suresh Chandra Chalise, the Secretary of the Office of the President, the Foreign Affairs Secretary, and Nepal's Ambassadors to Switzerland and Germany. The delegation is expected to return to Kathmandu on June 19.
In President Paudel's absence, Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has been designated to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the President. This designation is in accordance with Article 67 (2) of the Constitution, as stated by the Office of the President. This ensures that the presidential responsibilities are maintained during President Paudel's international engagements.
